Tina Garoosi, M.A.

Registered Psychological Associate | Certified PCIT Therapist

Tina is a Registered Psychological Associate whose clinical training was and continues to be at the UCLA Semel Institute, where she has received specialized training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and the assessment and treatment of child OCD, anxiety, and tic disorders. She is a certified PCIT therapist and has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families from diverse backgrounds.

As a mother herself, Tina has a strong passion for working with children and families. She especially enjoys helping parents develop positive parenting skills and practical strategies to better understand and manage challenging behaviors in their children. She believes that supporting parents and strengthening the parent-child relationship can make a meaningful difference in a child's emotional and behavioral development.

Her clinical interests also include maternal mental health, postpartum depression, and supporting new mothers as they adjust to the emotional and practical challenges of becoming a parent. She also works with adults experiencing anxiety and depression and helps clients develop skills to better manage difficult emotions, thoughts, and life challenges.

In therapy, Tina uses evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), PCIT, and mindfulness-based interventions. She believes therapy should be supportive, practical, and tailored to each person's needs. Her approach is collaborative and focuses on helping clients learn new skills that they can use in their everyday lives. She also considers each client's cultural background and personal experiences when developing treatment, with the goal of providing care that feels meaningful and relevant to each individual and family.

Tina strives to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where clients and families feel comfortable sharing their concerns and working toward positive change. She is committed to meeting each client where they are and helping them build confidence and practical skills along the way.

She provides therapy services in both English and Farsi.

Tina is currently supervised by Dr. Kanchi (PSY 27052).
