Tina Garoosi, M.A.

Registered Psychological Associate | Certified PCIT Therapist

Tina Garooshi, Registered Psychological Associate, is passionate about helping children, families, and adults build stronger emotional well-being and navigate life’s challenges. As a certified Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) therapist and a mother herself, Tina has a particular passion for working with children and parents and helping families create meaningful, lasting changes.

Working with Children & Parents
Tina works with children and pre-teens experiencing behavioral challenges, anxiety, mood concerns, low self-esteem, and difficulties related to life transitions. She incorporates play-based and developmentally appropriate interventions to help children express and understand their emotions, build coping skills, strengthen confidence, and develop healthier ways of responding to challenges.

As a PCIT therapist, Tina especially enjoys partnering with parents to better understand their child’s needs and develop practical, positive parenting strategies that strengthen the parent-child relationship. She helps parents respond more effectively to challenging behaviors while fostering connection, confidence, cooperation, and emotional security at home. Tina believes that empowering parents and strengthening the parent-child relationship are important parts of supporting a child’s emotional and behavioral development.

Working with Adults
Tina also works with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, life transitions, and other emotional challenges. She has a particular interest in maternal mental health, including supporting women experiencing prenatal and postpartum depression and anxiety and helping new mothers adjust to the emotional and practical challenges of becoming a parent.

Tina also enjoys working with physicians and healthcare professionals who may be navigating stress, burnout, difficult emotions, demanding work environments, or challenges related to balancing their professional and personal lives. She is passionate about helping healthcare professionals develop sustainable coping strategies and maintain their own emotional well-being while caring for others.

Therapeutic Approach
In therapy, Tina draws from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), PCIT, mindfulness-based interventions, and play-based therapeutic techniques. She believes therapy should be supportive, practical, and individualized to each client’s needs. Her approach is collaborative and focused on helping clients develop skills they can apply in their everyday lives.

Tina also considers each client’s cultural background, values, and personal experiences when developing treatment, with the goal of providing care that feels meaningful and relevant to each individual and family.

Tina strives to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where clients and families feel comfortable sharing their concerns and working toward positive change. She is committed to meeting each client where they are and helping them build the confidence, insight, and practical skills needed to move forward.

Tina provides therapy services in both English and Farsi.

Tina is currently supervised by Dr. Kanchi (PSY 27052).
