Parenting shouldn't feel like a battle every day.
Do you find yourself:
- Repeating the same instruction five times?
- Walking on eggshells to avoid another meltdown?
- Dreading bedtime, transitions, or getting out the door?
- Feeling frustrated that consequences don't seem to work?
- Wondering why your child listens to everyone except you?
- Worrying that you're losing connection with your child
If so, you're not alone.
Many loving, dedicated parents find themselves stuck in exhausting cycles of tantrums, defiance, emotional outbursts, power struggles, and constant correction. It can leave everyone in the family feeling frustrated, disconnected, and overwhelmed.
The good news is that you don't have to figure it out on your own.
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is one of the most researched and effective treatments for young children with behavioral and emotional challenges. Through live coaching and research-backed strategies, PCIT helps parents build a stronger relationship with their child while learning practical tools that reduce conflict and increase cooperation.
At MILIKA Center for Therapy & Resilience, we help families move from daily battles to greater confidence, connection, and calm.

What is Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)?
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based treatment for children ages 2–7 and their caregivers.
Unlike traditional therapy where a therapist primarily meets with the child, PCIT teaches parents a proven set of skills that can be used during real-life interactions with their child.
Parents receive live coaching and support while practicing these skills, helping them feel more confident responding to challenging behaviors as they happen.
The goal isn't simply to stop unwanted behaviors.
The goal is to help families build:
- Stronger connection
- More cooperation
- Better emotional regulation
- Greater parenting confidence
- Healthier long-term interaction patterns
Because when parents have the right tools, children often thrive.
Signs Your Child May Benefit from PCIT
PCIT may help if your child frequently struggles with:
- Tantrums or meltdowns
- Defiance or not listening
- Aggressive behaviors such as hitting, kicking, or throwing
- Emotional outbursts
- Difficulty following directions
- Hyperactivity or impulsivity
- Frequent power struggles
- Difficulty with transitions
- Parent-child conflict
- Behavioral challenges at home, school, or daycare
